Readers and Writers

Room 5 has, for sure, blossomed this past 112 days of school!
  We entered Kindergarten as
emergent readers,
beginning to master letters/sounds and the concept of print.
It has been a steady process to ensure we all have fluency and accuracy reciting and naming the print by letter and/or sound.
But...the good news is that we've done it!
Room 5 has 100% of kids on the coconut tree and I can, honestly, say that I have 21 emergent and/or early readers in here!
I think that deserves a "round of applause!"  Hip-hip-hooray!
As for our writing, man-oh-man...
this skilled has, truly, developed!
I have Kinders that are filling pages of text with complicated, Kinder-like, stories, while others can write multiple sentences to communicate.  (All of which are appropriate right now).
They are segmenting words by sound to spell, while ensuring their
sight-words are spelled correctly.
As the teacher in the room, I have really become the facilitator of learning; I can guide and support their learning now!
BRAVO!
We still have 70 days of learning remaining and it will, most definitely,
be full of learning!
Please continue to write stories, read books, count to 100, add to 10, and play with  geometric shapes.

The foundation is being built and, boy, it is going to be strong!
