Kites!

Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Let's go fly a kite!
Our classroom spent the end of the day, on Tuesday, flying kites and, boy, the air was full of     smiles, giggles, laughter, and KITES
The looks of PURE JOY on the KinderKids faces was contagious, as well!
Thank you to those families who brought patience, helpful hands, and love        to aid in making, yet, another memory!
We love you!

Earth Day!

Today was Earth Day and our room  celebrated by
reading a few stories, discussing the importance of caring for our Earth by recycling, and we learned a poem to go with our painted Earth!

We LOVE the Earth.
We love the Earth's blue skies.
We love the Earth's green forests.
We love the Earth's wide oceans.
We love Earth's living deserts.
We love Earth's many animals.

We LOVE our Earth, our home!

Egg Hunt!

This past Friday, we had a, truly,
FUN FRIDAY!
Hippity-hoppity...
all my lil' bunnies were eager to go hunt for their eggs!

Our Itty-Bitty Caterpillars Arrived!

On Friday, our
itty-bitty caterpillars
arrived, via the mail, in a cup!
Our classroom was OVER-JOYED with giggles, smiles, and excitement.
We will spend the next 28 days observing, recording, and evaluating
the miracle that will soon transpire,
as we watch the changes occur.
We moved each caterpillar into their own cup, gave each a scoop of mallow plant (blended),
and put a leaf at the top of the cup (a tissue),
recorded our observations in our science notebooks,
and used our hand-lenses to observe.
As the next few weeks go by, we'll witness an enormous amount of growth and molting of old skin, as the caterpillar prepares to make a chrysalis to sleep in before emerging as a butterfly.
Please come and in and see them.
I know your child would LOVE to share!
*We're showing you how the caterpillars move on their TRUE LEGS, but they have PROLEGS in the back, too!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This month, our classroom is doing an
author study
 on
Eric Carle.
He is a very famous author and illustrator.
One of his most popular books is
The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
We'll be busy reading many of his stories from now until the end of the month.
I think your child will be SHOCKED to see how many books Eric Carle has written, especially on animals and nature!
To add to the reading fun, we've created a classroom display of art based on
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
This past Tuesday, we read, painted, hung dry, and cut our tiny caterpillars!
Please be sure to stop by ther classroom and see our AMAZING artwork!
Room 5 has some amazing artists.
I, simply, love'em!
