The Caterpillars are HERE!

Last week, the scientists sent us our
 22 baby, very tiny caterpillars.
The caterpillars were delivered in a cup, with mashed mallow plant at the bottom.  It was amazing to see these larva!
Over this past week,
we have observed, recorded our observations in our science journals, and watched their bodies grow, develop, and even molt their skin

Be sure to ask us about the body parts of a caterpillar!

I think you'll be surprised to know all the scientific names that I know:
*bristles
*spiracles
*12 simplistic eyes
*segments
*6  true legs
*10 prolegs
By next week, we should see our caterpillars begin to form their J-shape.  Don't forget to come in and see them!

Eric Carle Author Study!

The sun is shining and the warm,         spring weather is filling our
hearts with happiness.
In order to get in the TRUE springtime spirit, we decided to make some special artwork to display in the room.
For the month of April and May, we will study books and illustrations by Eric Carle.
He has written and illustrated 100's of children's stories and, every year,
 the KinderKids LOVE reading his
expressive, nature-focused work.
Just be prepared to hear LOTS about
 Eric Carle.
He, truly, is an amazing man and his work is some of my favorite children's stories of all time!

On Tuesday, we began to talk about the Eric Carle and we read one of his most famous stories,
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
and we made our April quilt.
Come in and see our masterpieces!

Then, on Wednesday, we re-read
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
We created our own, personal hungry caterpillars with circles, ovals, and LOTS of PAINT!

Can you see our own hungry caterpillars eating through the food?

We LOVED this book and cannot wait to read more Eric Carle stories.
If you have a minute, come in and see all of our hard work.
We are creative.
We ARE artists!
