Teddy Bear Picnic

To end our unit on bears,
we had a BEARY full day of fun!
Our bears were an active part of our learning today.
The bears:
*said the flag salute
*heard the letters we wrote to them
*read books
*sang songs
*sorted into groups by size
*helped Kinders create a graph
*ate lunch with us
*jumped on a bear trampoline
Phew, I think these little bears are exhausted & are BEARY ready
to come home!
Teddy Bear Picnic are so much fun & we loved having one!
Don't forget to ask your child facts he/she learned about grizzly, polar, and black bears!  We've really learned a lot!

Readers and Writers

Room 5 has, for sure, blossomed this past 112 days of school!
  We entered Kindergarten as
emergent readers,
beginning to master letters/sounds and the concept of print.
It has been a steady process to ensure we all have fluency and accuracy reciting and naming the print by letter and/or sound.
But...the good news is that we've done it!
Room 5 has 100% of kids on the coconut tree and I can, honestly, say that I have 21 emergent and/or early readers in here!
I think that deserves a "round of applause!"  Hip-hip-hooray!
As for our writing, man-oh-man...
this skilled has, truly, developed!
I have Kinders that are filling pages of text with complicated, Kinder-like, stories, while others can write multiple sentences to communicate.  (All of which are appropriate right now).
They are segmenting words by sound to spell, while ensuring their
sight-words are spelled correctly.
As the teacher in the room, I have really become the facilitator of learning; I can guide and support their learning now!
BRAVO!
We still have 70 days of learning remaining and it will, most definitely,
be full of learning!
Please continue to write stories, read books, count to 100, add to 10, and play with  geometric shapes.

The foundation is being built and, boy, it is going to be strong!

Valentine's Day Joys!

Thank you to all the families who came to celebrate our love for you!
We loved singing to you and, of course, we loved opening our valentine cards!
Room 5 is full of joy...
how can these faces not make you smile?!?!

100th Day Celebration!

Room 5 is 100 days smarter
and our learning never stops!
Mrs. Brennan's KinderKids are hard workers who love learning and we, for sure, know how to
make learning fun!
Last week, the 100th day was a BLAST with:
*100 exercises
*sharing 100 item collections
*100 licks of a lollipop
*spending $100
*writing what we'd be doing when we're 100 years old
*playing the kazoo and counting to 100
Check out our fun...learning has just begun!
