Welcome to Kindergarten!

In a few days your child will complete one of the

most important milestones in his/her life...

the first day of school! 

I understand that you and your child may meet this day with excitement of apprehension (or a little of both) and I hope that meeting me/the classroom will put you at ease!

The first weeks of school for Kindergarten is different from the older grades.   Please see below:

I cannot wait to meet you and your child!  Don't forget to bring your school supplies and a smile!

Room 5

Summitview Elementary

Balloon Popping Fun!

We've been together for

 almost 180 days of school and        in honor of ALL of our learning, 

Room 5 wants to celebrate with 

a few final days of FUN!

Every morning, the helper chooses a balloon, pops it, and out comes 
a silly activity to complete

 for the day.

So far, we've:

*decorated the sidewalks outside our room with chalk
*free center time

*made paper airplanes and had a flying contest

*had silly seating where the kids could sit in goofy ways 

The KinderKids are LOVING this and they're incredibly eager to see what each day's balloon holds.

Giggle, giggle...

When I was only just this tall?

Now, look at me!

I'm up to here!

In fact, I've learned a lot this year!

You think I'm really great...

Now we get to graduate!

Bye-Bye, Beautful Butterflies!

A fuzzy caterpillar, curled up on a leaf.

Spun itself a chrysalis 

and then fell fast asleep.

While it was sleeping,

 it dreamed that it could fly.

And, later when it woke up...

it was a BUTTERFLY!

Our butterflies need to create another     life-cycle, so we must say...

"Bye-bye, beautiful butterflies!"

Mother's Day Memories!

I love you mommy,

My dearest mommy.

You make me HAPPY, when I am sad.

I want to tell you,

I REALLY love you!

When I'm with you, I'm so glad!

 We prepared for your arrival with the making of gorgeous gifts!  

Our hands were so busy all week!

We couldn't wait to spoil you!

Memories made.

Caterpillars are in J-form

We've had our caterpillars for about 

2 weeks now and, boy-oh-boy, 

they have sure grown!

(caterpillars as a few days old)

(caterpillars as 14 days old)

Many of the caterpillars have 

molted 4 times and are 

hanging in their J-form, 

which will mean they will 

molt 1 last time before making their chrysalis.

We've recorded our observations 

in our journals and

 we can, hardly, believe how cool a caterpillar can be!

We predict that Room 5 will have butterflies by the end of next week!
