Where to Display Artwork?

When your child brings their work home from school or creates something at home,
CELEBRATE it, DISPLAY it, and LOVE it.

As they get older, the steady stream of little doodles and other class projects will start to dwindle. Enjoy their little scribbles and have fun creating your family’s own personal work/art gallery. When visitors come to your home, they can see the schoolwork too and have the chance to ask questions or praise your child again.

Also, that feeling of accomplishment is a vital foundation for a strong work ethic.
Displaying your children’s work is one way we can help promote the joy of a job well done.
You can always slap a paper on the refrigerator with a handy magnet but giving select pieces of school work a special honor can be more rewarding.
Displaying your child’s artwork sends a strong message to your child:
*I value what you do.
*You are creative, smart, or hard-working.
*Work done well is beautiful.

Show them how proud you are of them!
Here are a few ideas on how to display your
child's work at home.
How do you display your child's best work?
Leave a comment and share your idea!

Room 5 is Learning to Read!

We are learning how to read in Room 5, so please help me at home by
listening to my paper book stories
 3 times

Can you let me show you:
*My reading bodies (sitting up nice and tall)
* I point to the words when I read.
*  I can find my sight words.
*  I can read like I speak...not like a robot.
Once I have read to you, please sign my book.  If I bring my book back to school signed, I get a prize from our
TREASURE JAR!
Then, I'll bring my book home to stay forever.  Please help remind me to put my book in my special
BOOK BOX (or basket/bag).
I want to keep them, so when people come visit me, I can show them that I CAN READ!
Thank you for helping me  read!
I like to read!

2013 Jog-a-Thon

Last Friday, our entire school spent 1 hour of walking/jogging/sprinting to raise $ for our school!
The Jog-a-Thon is a PTA sponsored fundraiser where students from Summitview earn pledges for running.
I have not heard the total yet, but our school has raised THOUSANDS this year!  Hip-hip-Hooray!
This money earned will be used for field trips, classroom supplies, assemblies, library books, and electronic equipment.
Thank you to everyone who came to cheer the kids on~~we loved the fans!

You're Invited!

All families are invited into our classroom on Monday, October 28th for a special spider cookie party
It is going to  be very LOW KEY, but a fun time to chat with other families and have a 30 minute bonding time with your child.

We have ALL the ingredients necessary~~thank you!
Please stop in at the office first and then head to our classroom at 1:30pm until 2:00pm.
*I will have a sign-out sheet, if you wish to check your child out afterwards.
